When I set out on my journey to learn how to take extraordinary pictures I figured I was doing just that, learning how to take pictures. I had no idea all the other wonderful things I would learn along the way! The people I would meet, and the way I would learn to see the world. I think that is the truly amazing thing about approaching your art, photography or other, as a journey instead of a destination. When you don’t know exactly where you are going, you don’t limit yourself to one path.
I think one of the most pleasant surprises I’ve stumbled upon is the way I “see” the world since beginning this journey. Things I never noticed suddenly have popped out at me like Murakami art! Colors, textures, shapes, emotions, they scream at me to look closer and picture them through my lens. My husband is a music producer and when he used to talk about the way he “heard” things I thought he was nuts. I couldn’t even begin to understand what he was talking about, until I started to “see” differently and it all clicked.
I never truly understood the power art had on the brain until my own journey began. Now I am believer. Whatever your medium I encourage you to bring the arts into your lives, your families’ lives, your friends’ lives wherever you can. Take the journey slowly and soak in all the sights, I promise you won’t be disappointed and you might even learn a thing or two!
So when my Yoshe came out of her room in this get-up my new “eye” knew it was going to be a fun day! And here’s what we got!
Post Script … She hasn’t taken this outfit off since! With the exception of an occasional pause to let me wash it, she lives in her “ballerina”! Who knew how many chances I would have with this gem of a style choice!

Love her outfit, she looks like she had a great time!!!
